A Kundli, also called a Janam Kundli or Janampatri, is the map of the sky at the exact moment and place you were born. It records where the Sun, Moon, and the other Grahas (planets) stood against the zodiac, and divides that sky into twelve houses that represent different areas of life — self, wealth, family, career, marriage, and so on.
Unlike a newspaper horoscope that uses only your Sun sign, a Kundli is unique to you. Two people born on the same day in different cities can have completely different charts, because the rising sign (Lagna) changes roughly every two hours. That is why Vedic astrologers insist on the exact birth time and location.
Reading a Kundli means looking at three things together: which sign each planet occupies, which house it falls in, and which planetary period (Dasha) you are currently running. Together these describe your natural tendencies, the timing of major events, and the areas where extra care or simple remedies may help.
